Definitely go with counseling so you can help people. The passion for helping people will enable you to shine. Your Law background will only expand your client base. Every unique skill/gift will benefit you.

How is your mother doing? If you are on his fourth drumset, then it is time to get him a real drumset (or get thicker drum heads). You may not like the noise at first, but give him time to get coordinated. My mother had to put up with me for years. Church is the best starting point because of support. Keep me posted on his progress. Will pray for you and your family.
