- It's been a year since I have been back from my 4th tour in Iraq, this has been the hardest adjustment yet. What keeps me grounded and focused is my daughter. It was good to see Nashville again; that city has changed alot. But it's not about me, it's about the 4,000+ of my brothers in arms that have given their lives for this great country of ours. Let's never forget them and keep their families in our prayers.
Joined the Army 3 months after the day I walked across that stage. I don't regret a single minute of my service. Came to Texas in in 1990 after I finished Basic Training at Ft Knox. Ft. Hood was my first duty station. Been to Ft. Polk, Ft. Chaffe, Ft. Erwin, Berry Airfield, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Saudia Arabia. Just a few more years and I can retire and let Uncle Sam take care of me a little bit. But before I retire I have a few more stripes to earn first. I will then spend my days fishing in Corpus Christi, watching NASCAR, drinking beer, playing with my kids in the ocean, watch them grow up, and pay their way through the University of Texas. When they graduate they had better be taking care of daddy. I still like to run, not as fast as I use to in high school and when I was younger when I first joined the Army.
Being in the military all this time and being on the go all the time. I never thought I would ever get married or have kids for that manner. Guess God has a plan for all of us. Being a father is a good feeling; wouldn't trade it for anything. I still watch wrestling, still enjoy running, I am a new fan to NASCAR been watching for only 2 years.

I am so grateful for what you are doing over there. Thank you for your level of sacrifice. I did it for seven years with one tour in Saudi Arabia and that was it for me. I am praying for you, James. Come home safe to us.
