LAST BASKETBALL GAME AT MAPLEWOOD GYM
As many of you may not know, Maplewood is having 11 million dollars worth of renovation done to its building beginning this month. Included is a new large gym which will be located on the field beside the tennis courts, new music wing (bandroom, chorus and recording studio) which will be located in what is now the small gym. The current large gym will be transformed into offices and classrooms. They will begin to tear down the large gym in two weeks! The last home game will be next Friday, Dec 1… Continue

- MR. SHELTON YOU DID NOT INFORM ME THAT TICKETS WERE BEING SOLD IN ADVANCE I CAME UP THERE BUT IT WAS SOLD OUT. I HEARD THAT THE WOOD THREW DOWN!!! AND WON!! I SHOULD HAVE DONE IT SINCE I WAS HEAD MAJORETTE MY SENIOR OR JUNIOR YEAR CAN'T REMEMBER.... GOOD JOB

Thank all of you that showed up yesterday (2/14/09) for the Battle of the Drummers/Majorettes kick-off meeting. The meeting was very productive.
Below are the highlights from the meeting.
• The battle will take place at Stratford High School on April 18, 2009
• Drummer/Majorettes/Drum Majors will start practicing every Wednesday (6:30-8 pm) and every Sunday (4-7 pm).
• The first practice will take place on February 18, 2009.
• Everyone should meet at the old Day Care/Nursery in the Vocational building. (The old band room has been torn down for renovation).
• These practice dates are soft dates until we get feedback from the majority of participants to determine the best dates and times for practice.
• The contact person for the drummers is Erich Rollins 615-260-7469.
• The contact person for the majorettes is Demita (Jones) Demonbreum 615–554-9889
• The contact person for the drum majors is Duryea Williams 615-579-7609.
• Shirts will be created for all MHS Alumni and proceeds will benefit the MHS band.
• All past band members are needed for this event and are encouraged to come to the practices.
• The winners will be chosen by the crowd.
• Maplewood is the 1st band to march in the Gym (done in alphabetical order)
• A trophy will be given to the winner and kept at that school (Maplewood) until the next battle.
• Any and all ideas for a show are welcome.
• All Past and Present Band Directors and encouraged to come and make sure we are TIGHT!!!
• Most importantly, the BASS section is going to be the tightest (Lamont Banks, Dwight Harris, Tavares Hockett, Erich Rollins, etc) – Need I say more

- Greetings All,
As many of you have heard there is an old school battle of the Drummer/Majorettes going to take place in April. Stratford, Whites Creek, Pearl Cohn, and of course the baddest band in the land Maplewood. We will be having the initial meeting this Saturday (2/14/09) to discuss how we will WIN the battle.
The meeting starts at 3pm in the old Nursery/Day Care in the Vocational Building at Maplewood. The old band room has been torn down so the band in temporarily been placed in this location. Knowing that Saturday is Valentines Day the meeting will be kept to 1 hour.
All past bands members are invited to come. Please pass the word and invite all drummers/majorettes/Drum Majors/Band member to attend. We need you all help bring another victory back to MHS.
If you are not able to attend the meeting Saturday but you want to participate please send me an email and I will make sure you are contacted. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you all Saturday.

- Greetings All,
I just talked to Mr. Joe Shelton, current MHS band director. He is going to open up the band room for us to meet this Saturday (2/14/09) verses having to meet at Shoney’s. I know this Saturday in Valentine’s Day so we will keep the meeting at 1 hour.
Please note the old band room has been torn down. The temporary band room is the old nursery/day care at the Annex building. Please be on time so we can get in and get out and enjoy the rest of our day.
Please view my page to see the rules of the battle drummers and majorettes. Don’t forget PASS the word to all the old band members you know. BTW I heard some of the others schools have already started practicing; we are already behind the 8 ball.

It is time to start getting ready for the Old School Battle of the Drummers and Majorettes. I have spoken to several drummers and we are meeting at Shoney's by the Titan's stadium in East Nashville on this upcoming Saturday 2/14/09 to start putting a plan of action together. Please pass the word to all Drummers, Majorettes, and Drum Majors to be there. All old band members are welcome to come also.
Let’s show our children, spouses, significant others, and the others schools why we are/were the best band in the land.
