Hi Dad I really miss u . I tried to get to Nashville for your Retirement Party but I couldn't make it. I know you have been waitng a long time for this yet I want to let you know you have changed so many lives including mine. I truly believe if God had not put you in my life I could have turned out very different. I have been successful at many things as an educator, playwright soon to be author and motivational speaker. I walk boldly in my call and I don't apologize for it. I have learned to appreciate all gifts I have been given and you are one them . May God forever bless you and show you favor. Hey Mr. Stewart sorry I haven't got to you sooner but as you probably already know I have had my hands full with my daughter as of late. But God is still good all the time. Know that this is just a test and it just means he had something else in store for you and you were to hard headed to let go. Laugh cause you know its true. Trust in him and he WILL BRING YOU OUT. We have practice today at 4pm. A few of use are meeting at 2pm to put together some of the show.

We meet every Sunday at 4pm. We also meet on Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Your name comes up every practice we would all love to see you. We are meeting in the vocational building in the old day care.

About Me:
I was a band director with the greatest students a teacher could possibly have. Not only were there great band students, but there were great students all over the building and in the community.

So many kids came to the bandroom just to hang out and be a part of something great. Probably what I liked most ws that we controlled the Beta club and the top 10% of the population.

Maplewood was and is still a great school. We must stop criticizing the current band and figue out a way to get back the band of old.

Of course none will be better than those years 86-97 but they can still be bigger and more competitive than they are now.

Even more interesting then,was that none of you including Duryea could out step me; Pearl High Drum major and TSU Drum Major 3 years in a row. Oh I was also TSU band dance co-ordinator.

On Friday May 22nd, Mr. Stanley D. Stewart will retire after over 32 years of counseling and teaching. Mr. Stewart came to Maplewood as band director in 1986. He went on to spend one year at Cameron Middle School in 1997-98. In 1998 he returned to Highland Heights Middle School. Highland Heights was his home base school as he taught classes at Glenn, Swhab, and Gra-Mar Elementary Schools. It is truly a blessing to hear so many positive comments about me as your teacher. You have no idea how much you mean to me. In this day and time when we see a president of color get elected it strenghtens my life long belief that you can be anything you want to be. Barack Obama could have been one of you.
