Read Psalm 30
The psalmist wrote, "O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever."
Psalm 30:12 (NIV)
Not long ago I bought a pedometer--one of those gizmos to clip onto my waistband to measure how many steps I take. I read somewhere that we should take at least ten thousand steps a day to stay healthy.
One day a friend told me she wondered what score she would have if, instead of a pedometer, she wore a "thank-o-meter" -- a little machine desighed to measure how much gratitude we express, instead of how far we walk.
Learning to be grateful no matter what our curcumstance is always important. We have much to say thank you for, but often we're too busy or don't notice the good that is around us. Most of us have more blessings than we can count. But even if everything were stripped away, I would still have the love of God and the hope that comes from knowing Jesus Christ as my Savior.
Realizing that I have God's grace and salvation for all eternity--now that calls for giving thanks!
Thought for the Day
How many blessings can I count today?
